Sleep Machine Tips

My dad is getting his sleep apnea machine today and as I have had one for about 18 months I gave him a few tips to keep in mind.  I thought I’d share some of those with you today.  My machine came with a heated humidifier add-on.  I told him that I haven’t used mine in about a year.  While my throat is dry when I wake up, I found the hassle of constantly keeping it filled with distilled water to outweigh any slight benefits.

It was one more thing to keep clean too.  The feature I do use and paid extra to have is the c-flex function.  This works like a bipap and reduces the pressure when you exhale.  This make the treatment much more comfortable.  The machine also has a ramp feature which provides a gradual increase in pressure when you first turn it on.  I used this a lot when I was first getting accustomed to it, but I don’t bother with it now.  I am glad it was there when I needed it though.  That’s all I can think of for now; I’ll let you know if anything else comes to mind.
